The Good

The bad &

the ugly

When it rains, it pours ...

Tiger is a 3 year old female Pitbull Mix, brindle, beautiful with deep black dangerous looking eyes, but she is so gentle and sweet she will steal your heart in a blink of an eye! She lives on a property behind the Lodge Grass Post Office and her companion is Norman, a big ruff Husky Mix chained up to an old F150 for as long as I can think. And Tiger, despite her limp, defends Norman fiercely whenever he gets attacked just for fun by roaming dog packs.

Tiger had puppies during the last winter and they all had died of parvo. We worked on the owner to get her spayed, and he agreed, but then also surrendered her to us on April 10th in order to get her limp looked at. But the cheer didn't last long, we discovered while playing with her a very well known nasty growth on her vulva. An appointment was made with Best Friends Animal Hospital in Billings, MT to get her spayed and a biopsy was taken from the mass. Heart worm test came back negative. She stayed for 5 days at the vet and then returned to Lodge Grass. The biopsy results came back and confirmed Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor, a contagious cancer spreading already on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. We made immediately an appointment for chemo therapy since we discovered it early.

During the first chemo Best Friends granted us a free X-Ray on her hip and it showed a crushed femur and floating bone fragments. The estimate for the FMO is around USD 2.000,00 on top of the chemo therapy with approx. USD 2.400,00.

We have locals helping with donations, people that know Tiger, also Inside Voice in Sheridan, WY helped with a grant of USD 600 for the initial care, biopsy and boarding. As of now we are applying for further grants to help Tiger to secure her surgery and with it a better chance to find a cozy forever home, once cancer and pain free.
